Midnight Faith
By Heather Sorenson
Although she is most well-known as a choral composer and pianist, Midnight Faith shows Heather's musical diversity, as she dabbles in folk, Christian, jazz, original classical, and her own singer-songwriter style.
This album was engineered and produced by Todd Whitelock, recipient of 8 Grammys, and engineer to celebrities world-wide including Wynton Marsalis, Idina Menzel, Chick Corea, Bette Midler, Josh Groban, Yo-Yo Ma, Harry Connick, Jr., Kristin Chenoweth, Sting, Willie Nelson, Renee Fleming, Itzhak Perlman, Isaac Stern, the Boston Pops, the Metropolitan Opera, Broadway Shows, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and many others.
Midnight Faith is a true concept album. While incredibly diverse in style, this album has a running thread of a nighttime theme which seams the original songs and styles together into one cohesive work. Using her unique signature approach to songwriting, Heather combines different genres together to create a blend of sound that is characteristic of her music. The first phrase of the title song speaks to the inspiration for the project: “Faith looks different in the dark.”
